“Real” Cowboy History vs. the “Reel” History of Hollywood Legend with Lee Anderson. Living historian C.L. ”Lee” Anderson was born and raised in the small farming community of Madrid, Iowa. In the early 1960s he and his family moved to Arizona to escape Iowa’s frigid winters. Lee and his racetrack rescued horse, Concho, have become well-known throughout Arizona for their living history portrayals of 500 years of Southwest cowboys, especially the early Spanish colonial Vaquero culture. Along with a lifetime of research on the American cowboy culture, Lee is a fantastic storyteller, renowned historian, and highly skilled horseman. Lee and his well-trained horses, Concho and The Cisco Kid, often perform as living historians for schools, civic organizations, and numerous Old West festivals and events throughout Arizona. Lee also has two award-winning books published: Developing The Art Of Equine Communication, and The View From My Old Saddle.
